Van Decor
We purchased a blow-up air mattress as a bit of a last minute solution. In hindsight, high-density foam may be a better choice for possible future trips. The mattress takes up A LOT of room and drastically reduces the amount of head space when it is blown up. We’ve already realized that it is easier to move around (e.g when getting dressed) once the mattress is deflated.
We’ve dressed the bed as close to home as possible- there’s a fitted sheet on the mattress, a flat sheet, and a quilt. Last night, the temperatures dropped to about 13 celsius; the front windows were down and we woke up quite chilly! We have brought our sleeping bags and will have those on hand for future cooler nights.
Curtains… oh curtains. This was something we researched quite a bit. We ended up purchasing a two-pack of curtains, but turning them horizontally. This way, they cover both the 2nd row and 3rd row windows.
We used industrial strength velcro circles- one side on the curtain and one side stuck to the van. This allows us to easily and quickly put up and take down the curtains when needed.
Although the velcro is great, we have had issues with it unsticking from the van’s headliner. It’s almost too good; it would rather stay together with the opposite side, than stuck to the van. Live and learn.
For the rear window, we simply bought a flat sheet and folded it in half. It stays tucked into a ridge along the edge of the trunk when shut. Finally, for the front windshield we have a reflective cover.
Thanks for reading!

Try gluing the circles to the van with epoxy or super glue.
