The Mountains Are Calling and I Must Go

After leaving Jasper, we soon arrived at the BC border. Jasper National Park essentially turns into Mount Robson Provincial Park once you cross the border. Inside this park you'll find Mt. Robson (*surprise*), which is the tallest mountain in the Canadian Rockies, at 3,954m tall. Unfortunately, the day we were visiting some low clouds were hanging around and we couldn't quite see the top. It was still worth the stop to enjoy this beautiful natural wonder.

While in Mt. Robson park, but before we actually got to the peak, we decided to stop to stretch our legs, and I'm sure I needed to use the bathroom. Well, we stumbled upon the gem that is Overlander Falls. It's a short walk (between 5 and 10 minutes) from the roadside stop down a trail... absolutely stunning, and with an interesting story too.

Here's the sign from the falls that explain their unique and awesome name. And we thought we were being adventurous!

Getting back on the road, we made our way into Prince George. As with many towns and cities we saw in BC, there are several pulp mills in Prince George. It's the largest town in Northern BC, but it's actually geographically almost in the middle of the province (several days of driving North up to the Yukon made this rather apparent). In fact, after making a stop at Costco to stock up, we spent the night just outside Vandorhoof- the geographic centre of BC.

This was by far one of the shittiest nights.
We found an abandoned store
with a large parking lot and set up camp there. We experienced the first of many storms to come, but it seemed the worst just missed us and we were able to cook and eat dinner under our tarp. The mosquitoes were awful! We were definitely ready for a new day, and thankfully BC wasn't about to disappoint us!
